The 25th of April is Anzac Day, an important day of national remembrance and marks the anniversary of Australia and New Zealand’s involvement during the First World War. It is a day that evokes a sense of patriotism and heroism, as well as providing us an opportunity to step back from daily life and take a moment to acknowledge the incredible sacrifice of the men and women involved. Art and crafts is always a great way to help educate kids while having fun. It gives you the opportunity to discuss what they are creating and sometimes why. Anzac day soldier Anzac day poppiesLast year we made some simple paper plate poppies, all you need is some paper plates, scissors and paint. We also used some red plastic plates we had too. We used our paper plate poppies to complete a larger artwork. This year I’ve taken a similar soldier silhouette and made a printable A4 dot marker activity sheets you can print off for your child, or a sheet of poppies.
